World Down Syndrome Day Benefit Magic Show

This annual event is being held to support and publicize World Down Syndrome Day, which occurs annually on 3/21. Every year, on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day by wearing brightly colored, mismatched socks.March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of DS chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks! Will you show your support for people with Down syndrome by wearing mismatched socks to the magic show on March 22nd?

For over 25 years, The Great Zucchini has been entertaining young children. He performs his hands-on, interactive magic shows for more than 700 groups a year. In addition to appearing at hundreds of schools and thousands of birthday parties throughout Maryland, Virginia, and DC, The Great Zucchini has also entertained at the 9:30 Club, DC Improv, Arlington Cinema Drafthouse, Historic 6th and I Synagogue, ABC 7 “Let’s Talk Live,” numerous embassies, Jammin’ Java, Avalon Theatre, and Celebrate Fairfax.

Thanks to their amazing generosity and support for our community, The Great Zucchini and Abracadabra Alex are donating their wonderful talents in support of raising funds for DSNMC's vital work. One prize will be offered for The Great Zucchini to appear and another prize will be offered for Abracadabra Alex to appear. Terms and conditions apply, notably that the party must be scheduled at a time and location conducive to their schedule, during the week, including Fridays, and excluding weekends, with the details of their performances at the magicians sole discretion, though with every reasonable effort to accommodate with winners needs. The raffle will be drawn at the end of the show and the winner will be notified within 48 hours if not in attendance; you do not need to be present to win. The first winning ticket drawn will have first choice of which magician they would like to appear. In instances of the same person winning both drawings, a third ticket, and so on, will be drawn until a second winner is selected. Raffle tickets may be purchased through registration.
